Holly Patterson Extended Care Hospital Facility, Uniondale, NY
I painted a large scale mural in the auditorium of this long term care hospital. Covering the walls with a bright blue sky of fluffy clouds was a joyously rewarding experience. As I painted, patients kept me company, discussing their own hobbies, their past, and what they would like to see in the mural. The design was created to honor both the facility’s patients, as well as the history of the land the facility sits upon. Rolling farmland echoes the agricultural past of the area. Bright images of mountains, fields, sunflowers and birds provide stimulation, color and life to the formerly monotonous wall that hosts hospital patients visiting the auditorium.
